Canadiens Sign Mike Glumac, Mathieu Darche And Alex Henry

MONTREAL, QC - Montreal Canadiens General Manager Bob Gainey announced today the signing of forwards Mike Glumac and Mathieu Darche, as well as defenceman Alex Henry, to one-year, two-way contracts for the 2009-2010 season. Hamilton Bulldogs General Manager Julien BriseBois announced today the club has signed forward Eric Neilson and defenceman Chad Anderson to one-year contracts for the 2009-2010 season. As per club policy, financial terms of the agreements were not disclosed.

Glumac, 29, played in 66 games with the Bulldogs last season leading the team in goals with 33 and posting 52 points (33 goals, 19 assists) along with 60 penalty minutes. The 6-foot-2, 203-pound right wing also led the team in power-play markers with 17, two shy of the franchise record for most power-play goals in a season by a Hamilton player. In six playoff games with the 'Dogs, the native of Niagara Falls, Ontario recorded four points (one goal, three assists) and four penalty minutes. Glumac has played in a total of 40 NHL games, all for the St. Louis Blues, earning 13 points (seven goals, six assists) and 38 penalty minutes.

Darche, 32, spent last season with the Portland Pirates leading the team in goals with 31 and registering 66 points (31 goals, 35 assists) along with 37 penalty minutes in 80 games. The 6-foot-1, 210-pound left wing has recorded 24 points (eight goals, 16 assists) and 26 penalty minutes in 101 NHL games over eight seasons playing for the Columbus Blue Jackets, Nashville Predators and the Tampa Bay Lightning. The native of Montreal, Quebec has played in a total of 520 games in the AHL amassing 418 points (196 goals, 222 assists) with 248 penalty minutes and won the 2004 Calder Cup as a member of the Milwaukee Admirals.

Henry, 29, played in 79 games with the Bulldogs in 2008-2009 recording 10 points (three goals, seven assists) along with 127 penalty minutes. The native of Elliot Lake, Ontario also competed in six playoff games with the 'Dogs earning eight penalty minutes. An Assistant Captain with Hamilton last season, Henry has played in a total 264 with the Bulldogs posting 28 points (10 goals, 18 assists) and 426 penalty minutes. The 6-foot-6, 230-pound defenceman has played in a total of 177 games in the NHL with the Edmonton Oilers, Washington Capitals, Minnesota Wild and Montreal Canadiens registering 11 points (two goals, nine assists) along with 269 penalty minutes. Henry was selected in the 3rd round, 67th overall by the Edmonton Oilers in the 1998 NHL Entry Draft.

Neilson, 24, competed in 50 games with the Peoria Rivermen last season scoring three goals and leading the club in penalty minutes with 207. In 2007-2008, the 6-foot-1, 200-pound right wing played in 34 games with the Alaska Aces of the ECHL posting four points (three goals, one assist) along with 119 penalty minutes and 18 games with Peoria registering two assists and 82 penalty minutes. The native of Fredericton, New Brunswick was drafted by the Los Angeles Kings in the 5th round, 143rd overall at the 2004 NHL Entry Draft.

Anderson, 27, spent last season with the Bulldogs where he played in 56 games amassing seven points (five goals, two assists) along with 55 penalty minutes. The 6-foot-3, 213-pound defenceman also played in five AHL playoff games for the 'Dogs earning two assists and serving six penalty minutes. The native of Chisago, Minnesota competed with the AHL's Philadelphia Phantoms in 2007-2008 posting 13 points (two goals, 11 assists) along with 35 penalty minutes in 55 regular season games.
