
Braves 6, Jaxx 3 Snaps Jaxx Three-Game Win Streak

JACKSON, TENN. (JUNE 28, 2009) - The Diamond Jaxx (3-4) three game winning streak was halted on Sunday afternoon as the Mississippi Braves (4-2) score five runs in the eighth innings and win 6-3. The newest Jaxx infielder, Jimmy Mojica goes 3-for-4 in his Jaxx debut. Greg Halman and Leury Bonilla each drove in runs. Jaxx starter, Kyle Parker lasted seven innings for the third time this season, allowing just one run. The Braves now lead the season series 6-5, as they take game one of a six game series at Pringles Park.
The Braves finally were the first to dent the scoreboard in the game in the sixth. With two outs, Willie Cabrera was hit by a pitch by Jaxx starter, Kyle Parker. The next batter, JC Boscan doubled in Cabrera from first base to give the Braves a 1-0 lead.
The Jaxx answered the score by Mississippi in the top of the sixth. Mel Stocker and Ezequiel Carrera led the inning off with singles. With runners on the corners Greg Halman singled in Stocker tying the game at one. Halman got into a run-down between first and second which allowed Carrera to score the Jaxx second run and take a 2-1lead.
Jaxx starter, Kyle Parker dealt seven innings in the game on Sunday afternoon. Parker allowed just one run on four hits, while striking out four and walking two.
The M-Braves sent 10 batters to the plate and scored five runs off of Josh Fields (2-1) in the eighth inning. Matt Young, Concepcion Rodriguez and Willie Cabrera singled to open the inning. The single by Cabrera scored Young tying the game at two. JC Boscan recorded his second double of the game plating Rodriguez giving the Braves a 3-2 lead. Creek flied a ball to deep center that was dropped by Greg Halman allowing Cabrera to score. Mumba Rivera replaced Fieids with nobody out and the first batter he faced, Erick Campbell tripled to left scoring Boscan and Creek. The two-RBI triple gave the Braves a 6-2 lead. Rivera escaped the jam with no further damage done. Fields allowed five runs in the inning on four hits taking his first professional loss.
Ryne Reynosso for the Braves, goes 7.2 innings allowing just one earned run on six hits. Reynosso struck out six and walked two. In his last start against Birmingham, Reynosso went eight shutout innings.
The Jaxx plated there third run of the game with two outs in the ninth. Back-to-back doubles from David Espinosa and Leury Bonilla cut the deficit to 6-3, but that was as close as the Jaxx got against reliever Tim Gustafson (S, 1)
The Jaxx and Braves are back at it on Monday at 7:05. Luis Munoz (2-4, 4.94) makes the start for the Diamond Jaxx, while RHP Kyle Cofield (5-2, 2.96) goes for the Braves.
