CHICAGO, IL (June 19, 2009) - The Chicago Fire has announced that a potential 2009 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup quarterfinal match could be played at Bradley University's Shea Stadium on July 7 in Peoria, Illinois.

If the Fire defeat the Wilmington Hammerheads in the third-round of Open Cup play on June 30 at Legion Stadium (6 p.m. CT), the team will play the winner of the Rochester Rhinos (USL1) versus the Columbus Crew (MLS) match, also to be played on June 30. If Rochester advances, the Fire would play their quarterfinal match at Rochester Rhinos Stadium in Rochester, New York (6 p.m. CT), however if the Crew advance, the Fire will host the quarterfinal match at Bradley University's Shea Stadium in Peoria, Illinois (7:30 p.m. CT).

The Fire successfully lined up against the Crew last year at Shea Stadium, defeating Columbus 3-2 in overtime of a 2008 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup play-in game.

"Playing at Bradley University last year was a great experience for the team, and a successful one. Should we advance to the U.S. Open Cup quarterfinals we plan to hold on to our winning record at Shea Stadium and provide fans with a fun and exciting game experience," says Frank Klopas, Fire Technical Director.

The Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup is an annual competition open to all amateur and professional soccer teams affiliated with U.S. Soccer. It is the oldest national annual tournament for team sports in U.S. history and among the oldest soccer tournaments of its type in the world. The Chicago Fire has won four Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cups (1998, 2000, 2003 and 2006) and finished as the runner-up in the 2004 edition of the tournament.
