Las Vegas Wranglers News Release
Las Vegas, NV - The Las Vegas Wranglers® announced today that Director of Broadcasting and Media Relations Josh Fisher has accepted the same position with the American Hockey League's Texas Stars in Cedar Park, TX.
Fisher was the only broadcaster in team history, having helped the Wranglers launch their inaugural season in 2003-04. The 33-year old was selected in 2004-05 for the television broadcast of the ECHL All-Star Game. After finishing runner-up the previous two seasons, Fisher was named ECHL Media Relations Director of the Year for the National Conference in 2007.
"It's a bittersweet day for us," said Wranglers president and COO Billy Johnson. "Josh was one of our first hires and wore his heart on his sleeve for his co-workers and this organization for his entire career here. We all look forward to seeing him advance in his career."
"I would like to thank the Wranglers fans and the entire Las Vegas Wranglers organization, especially our owner Charles Davenport and President Billy Johnson," said Josh Fisher. "I would also like to thank all members of the media that I have worked with for the last six years. I will always be proud to have been a Wrangler. My time in Las Vegas has given me a lifetime of friendships and memories. My new position in Texas allows me to continue to chase my dream of one day calling games in the National Hockey League."
Prior to his time in Las Vegas, Fisher worked in Lexington (KY) and Columbus (GA). Overall, Fisher has called professional hockey games for nine years. The Cincinnati native is a 1999 graduate from the University of Kentucky with a degree in Broadcast Journalism.
The Wranglers host Opening Night on Friday, October 16, 2009 at 7:05 PM against Utah. 2009-10 season seat packages are on sale now at (702) 471-PUCK. The Wranglers play all 36 regular season home games at the Orleans Arena, located at the Orleans Hotel and Casino at 4500 W. Tropicana Avenue.
