First Arena and Jackals Elevate Donald Lewis

Elmira, NY ~ The Elmira Jackals, proud members of the ECHL, and First Arena, are pleased to announce that Senior Sales Executive Donald Lewis has been elevated to Assistant General Manager effective immediately. Lewis, 23, who has been with the organization since August 2008, will have a very strong influence and participation in sales & marketing with both the First Arena and Jackals. Lewis will also assist General Manager Robbie S. Nichols in the planning and booking of events for the First Arena.

Born and raised in Elmira Heights, NY, Donald began his career in 2006 when he replaced Mike Salisbury as Equipment Manager of the Elmira Jackals when the team was in the now-defunct United Hockey League. Following the 2005-2006 season, Lewis accepted the position of Equipment Manager with the Pee-Dee (Florence, SC) Cyclones of the Southern Professional Hockey League (SPHL). At the completion of the 2006-2007 season, the Cyclones relocated to Winston-Salem, NC and re-branded themselves as the Twin City Cyclones. Lewis finished the 2007-2008 season with the Jacksonville Barracudas of the SPHL. Along with his duties as equipment manager, Donald also contributed to the sales and marketing departments with both the Cyclones and Barracudas. In April 2008, Lewis accepted the reigns of General Manager with Lake Erie of the Mid-Atlantic Hockey League. His tenure with the MAHL franchise was short when he accepted a sales position with the Jackals.

IN OTHER NEWS AND NOTABLES ~ The First Arena is proud to announce that the facility will be hosting the 1st Annual Job Fair at First Arena, presented by SITEL, on Friday, June 12, 2009 from 11:00 am to 6:00 pm. Companies and businesses are invited to participate and purchase booth space at the 1st Annual Job Fair at First Arena. Many different packages are available with all packages containing Booth Locations, tables and chairs. Businesses will be available to speak to prospective employees about their operations and interview candidates for positions they have available. Individuals that are looking for a new career or want to advance in their career are invited to come to First Arena and speak to representatives of businesses and companies throughout the Twin Tiers. ELMIRA JACKALS NIGHT WITH THE PIONEERS ~ FREE TICKETS- The Elmira Pioneers of the New York Collegiate Baseball League will be having ELMIRA JACKALS NIGHT on Thursday, June 11th, 2009 when the Pioneers play host to the Hornell Dodgers at Dunn Field with first pitch scheduled for 7:00 pm. Members of the Jackals front office along with Blade will be in attendance that night. Jackals fans can pick up FREE tickets to the Pioneers game by visiting the First Arena box office or at the First Arena Administration office during normal business hours while supplies last.

TEN YEARS IN THE TWIN TIERS -GET YOUR TICKETS!!! ~ The Elmira Jackals will be celebrating their 10th Anniversary in 2009-2010 and hockey fans will not want to miss any of the excitement. Plenty of special events will be in store for everyone. JACKALS WITHIN THE COMMUNITY- The Elmira Jackals are a proud member of the community and is always willing to make an appearance whether it's a parade, school function, social event or charitable cause! Blade will be in the public spotlight in the coming weeks so watch for him. Friday June 6th, 2009, Blade will be at Cohen Middle School for their annual ice cream function. Saturday, June 7th, 2009, Blade will make his first "triple-header" appearance of the summer! The Jackals trusty mascot will begin the day at Eldridge Park and start off this year's Kidney Foundation Walk, which kicks off at 10:00 am. Immediately following, Blade will treck over to Chemung River for this year's Riverfest and Hunger Walk. Later that afternoon, Blade will participate in the Montour Falls Fireman's Festival Parade beginning at 5:00 pm. Thursday, June 11th, Blade will be joining his good friend Stitches at Dunn Field when the Elmira Pioneers face the Hornell Dodgers on Elmira Jackals Night. Let's see if Blade can outrun Stitches as the two race around the diamond! Friday, June 12th, Blade will be at His Tabernacle Carnival from 6:00 to 7:00 pm. The Jackals and Blade will be participating in the 46th Annual Colonial Days Parade in Painted Post on Saturday, June 13th at 11:00 am. Finally, on Sunday, June 14th, Blade will be closing out this year's Challenger Little League baseball season at Community Park in Big Flats, with the final games beginning at 1:00 pm and awards picnic immediately following.
