Salem RidgeYaks News Release
Salem, VA- A new season of the Salem-Lynchburg rivalry began with a bang as both teams scored five runs in the first inning. The evening also ended with, quite literally, a thunderous bang, as the skies opened up and a downpour halted action in the top of the fourth inning with the Hillcats leading 8-5.
The game will resume on Saturday at 4:30, as the two teams will complete the nine-inning game and follow that up with Saturday's scheduled contest. The second game will be seven innings.
Both starting pitchers struggled mightily to start the game and things were all square after one inning. The Hillcats added one in the second and two in the third to take a three-run edge when the rains came.
