Everett AquaSox News Release

Everett, Wash. - The Everett AquaSox have announced the official release of their 2009 Promotional Schedule. The upcoming season, beginning June 23, is the club's 15th season as a Seattle Mariners' affiliate and 26th season in Everett. Fans can look forward to many unique giveaways and promotions, including 10 fireworks shows.

The first postgame fireworks display is scheduled for Tuesday, June 23, when the AquaSox take on the defending Northwest League Champion Spokane Indians at Everett Memorial Stadium. Fireworks are also scheduled for nine more home games including Independence Day, Saturday, July 4.

On Saturday, June 27, the AquaSox will honor Everett native son and Major League All-Star, Grady Sizemore, with a souvenir bobble head giveaway. Sizemore, who played baseball at nearby Cascade High School prior to turning pro in 2000, played his home games at Everett Memorial Stadium as a prep.

To celebrate the return of Ken Griffey, Jr. to the Northwest, the AquaSox will present a limited edition, numbered, plaque giveaway to the first 1,000 fans on Friday, July 24. The commemorative plaques are replicas of the Ken Griffey, Jr. sidewalk monument that marks the spot on Lombard Avenue in Everett where Griffey's first professional hit, a homerun, came to rest, 387 feet from home plate on June 17, 1987.

Nick Jr.'s "Dora the Explorer" will make her first visit to Everett Memorial Stadium on Saturday, August 22, for one night only. In addition, the first 1,000 youngsters, 14 and under, will receive an AquaSox youth jersey.

Baseball Hall of Famer Gaylord Perry will be on hand Sunday, August 23 to visit with fans and sign autographs. Nicknamed "The Ancient Mariner," Perry was the first pitcher to win the Cy Young Award in both leagues. He is 17th all-time with 314 wins and earned number 300 as a member of the Seattle Mariners.

AquaSox pre-season festivities begin Saturday, May 30 with their 11th annual Fan Fest, marking the first day of single-game ticket sales for the 2009 season. The event will be held at the AquaSox Stadium Store at 3802 Broadway in Everett.
