
Former Home Run Leader Joins Dragons

DAYTON, OH-The Dayton Dragons announced the following roster changes today:
Outfielder Stephen Chapman has been signed as a free agent.
Right-handed pitcher Mark James has been promoted to Dayton from extended spring training.
Catcher Jordan Wideman has been placed on the disabled list with a broken right thumb suffered in Tuesday night's game.
Right-handed pitcher Lance Janke has been placed on the disabled with a right ankle sprain.
Chapman spent five years in the Milwaukee Brewers organization. In 2007, he hit 24 home runs, drove in 89 runs, and stole 12 bases while batting .262 with West Virginia of the Single-A South Atlantic League. The 24 home runs set a new club record. Last season, Chapman played with Brevard County of the Advanced-A Florida State League and hit 12 home runs despite batting .202. Chapman was a sixth round draft pick of the Brewers in 2004 out of Marianna (FL) High School.
James spent two seasons in the Brewers organization before playing independent professional baseball in 2008. He pitched for Quebec of the Can-Am League last season, posting a record of 4-3 with a 3.02 earned run average in 31 games out of the bullpen. He was originally signed as a 14th round draft pick in 2005 out of Sinclair Secondary School in Ontario, Canada.
Wideman, who suffered the broken thumb in a collision at home plate last night, is batting .171 with no home runs and five runs batted in. He has played in 13 games.
Janke has pitched in six games (one start), going 0-1 with a 2.04 earned run average.
The Dragons roster remains at the Midwest League limit of 25 players.

The Dragons host Clinton tonight at Fifth Third Field. Game time is 7:00 p.m.
