Cats sign O'Sullivan

The Fort Worth Cats have re-signed first baseman Pat O'Sullivan for the 2009 season, the club announced today.

He was originally acquired by the Cats in August of last season. He batted .262 with three homers and 14 RBIs in 15 games with the Cats. In his debut on Aug. 8, O'Sullivan belted a home run, a double and had five RBIs.

He started the season with Alexandria in the United League, hitting .355 with 13 homers and 48 RBIs in 39 games. Later played for Tijuana in the Mexican League, hitting .392 in 25 games.

O'Sullivan played for Norte and Veracruz in the Mexican League in 2007 before finishing the season with 70 games in Schaumburg in the Northern League. In his career, O'Sullivan has a career .320 average and 173 home runs in 960 games.

A nine-year minor league veteran, O'Sullivan played for Cats' manager Chad Tredaway in 2004 with Edinburg. He was originally drafted by the New York Mets in the 34th round of the 1999 draft.
