Blackhawks Legend Denis Savard To Appear At An Upcoming Game

Rockford, Ill.- Rockford IceHogs President Mark Bernard announced today that former Chicago Blackhawks player and coach Denis Savard will be at the Friday, Jan. 23 IceHogs game against the Iowa Chops at the Rockford MetroCentre.

Tickets are available through the MetroCentre Box Office, by phone at 815-968-5222, on-line at metrocentre.com or at Hogs Headquarters inside Cherryvale Mall. The game starts at 7:30 p.m. and the first 2,000 fans in the door with also get a 10th Anniversary Canvas, courtesy of Rasmussen College and Stanley Steemer.

Savard was selected by the Chicago Blackhawks #3 overall in the 1980 NHL Draft. The Pointe Gatineau, Québec native played in 881 games with the Blackhawks over 13 seasons, accumulating 377 goals and 719 assists. The centerman was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2000 and is one of seven players to have a number retired by the Blackhawks.

The seven-time all-star began his coaching career in 1998 as a special development coach with the Blackhawks. On Nov. 27, 2006, he was hired as the 36th head coach in Chicago Blackhawks history. Earlier this season, Savard was named a Chicago Blackhawks Ambassador.

Next Home Game: Friday, Jan. 9 vs. Chicago Wolves. The rivalry resumes at 7:30 p.m. with another meeting between the IceHogs and Wolves at the MetroCentre. The game is the fourth of five on the season in Rockford eighth of ten between the rivals. The first 2,000 fans to the game will pick up a set of 2008-09 Rockford IceHogs player cards courtesy of ComEd.
