Friday, Dec. 12: WGN Toy Drive - 5 to 8 a.m. at 2501 Bradley Place, in Chicago. Chicago Storm mascot Striker is hanging out with other area mascots, collecting gifts from cars during the WGN Morning News Drive-Thru Toy Drive. WGN Morning News' Paul Konrad, Dean Richards, Ana Belaval, Valerie Warner and Pat Tomasulo also will be outside all morning to collect toys. For more information visit www.wgntv.com/toy.
Saturday, Dec. 13: Spirit Spectacular - 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Sears Centre Arena, 5333 Prairie Stone Pkwy., in Hoffman Estates, Ill. Members of the Storm Chasers dance team will be on hand during the finals of the Illinois Recreational Cheerleading Association-hosted event, with competitors from kindergarten through eighth grade. Meet with the dancers and also learn about a special Chicago Storm Dance Clinic taking place on April 5, 2009.
Wednesday, Dec. 17: OSA - Palombi Middle School - 133 McKinley Ave., in Lake Villa, Ill. Students and staff have the opportunity to meet and interact with Storm players during the team's operational school assembly, promoting life lessons both on and off the soccer field. The assembly is divided into three parts: "Be Brave!" "Be Smart!" and "Work Hard!"
Dec. 22, 23, 26, 29 and 30: Chicago Storm / Lil'Kickers Holiday Camps - 1 to 4 p.m. each day at Sports Zone - 1945 Cornell Ave., in Melrose Park, Ill. The camps are for ages 3 to 16. The Storm Holiday Camps are run by head coach Steve Morris and current Storm players. On Dec. 29 and 30, Storm goalkeeper Jeff Richey leads a striker/keeper camp. All campers who register for a camp day receive a free ticket to a 2008-2009 Chicago Storm soccer came. The cost is $25 a day for the Lil'Kickers Camp (ages 3-6), and $40 a day for the Storm Holiday Camp (ages 7-16) and Storm Striker/Keeper Camp (ages 10-16).
