Indiana Mad Ants News Release

Fort Wayne, IN (November 5, 2008)- The NBA D-League's Fort Wayne Mad Ants are proud to announce the hiring of radio play by play commenter Bill Hazen. Hazen can be heard on FM 100 Talks for all of the 2008-09 Mad Ants' home games.

"We could not be happier to have Bill Hazen as our new play by play man," said Mad Ants' President Jeff Potter. "It is not often that teams get the opportunity to bring in someone with Bill's knowledge and NBA experience. I think he will bring a level of professionalism to our broadcasts and our organization as a whole."

Hazen has over thirty years of major market, regional and national broadcasting experience, which spans NBA basketball, major league baseball, and NFL football, as well as major college, minor league and prep sports on both radio and TV.

He has called the shots for three NBA teams-the Houston Rockets, Chicago Bulls, and the Indiana Pacers. While with the Bulls, he was privileged to call the game that featured the professional debut of Michael Jordan. Hazen was also tabbed by ESPN International to describe its package of NBA games, including the NBA Playoffs and NBA Championship Series. Hazen has also called the National League Championship Series, the American League Championship Series and World Series, as well as NFL Football.

"I had the pleasure of working with Bill when I was with the Gary Steelheads," said head coach Jaren Jackson. "He is an energetic guy who has a great passion for basketball. It was a joy to work with him in Gary and I look forward to working closely with him this year as we put together a winning team."

Hazen will debut as the "Voice of the Mad Ants" on November 28 as the Mad Ants take on the Erie Bayhawks in their season opener at the Memorial Coliseum. Tip-off is set for 7:30 PM EST.

"Anytime you add exciting professional basketball and Ft. Wayne together, you're bound to have a winning formula. That's one reason I'm so thrilled about this opportunity," said Hazen. "Indiana sports broadcasters like Sid Collins and Hilliard Gates influenced me when I was learning about broadcasting at Butler University. For me, calling the action on Mad Ants games will give me the opportunity to return to my Indiana broadcast roots. I'll also be working with some terrific people. I'm excited about that!"
