Josh Whitesell 54th Former Vermont Player In Majors

First baseman Josh Whitesell, a member of the 2003 Vermont Lake Monsters, was promoted from Triple-A Tucson to the Arizona Diamondbacks in early September when the Major League rosters expanded. Whitesell is the 54th former Vermont player to reach the Majors.

Whitesell hit .246 (41-for-167) with 13 runs, 10 doubles, five homers and 19 RBI in 49 games with the then-Vermont Expos in 2003. He played for Single-A Savannah and Potomac in 2004 and 2005, then Double-A Harrisburg in 2006 and 2007 where he hit a combined 40 home runs over two seasons.

Before being promoted to Arizona, Whitesell hit .328 (156-for-475) with 86 runs, 36 doubles, 26 homers and 110 RBI in 127 games for Tucson. He has appeared in two games, going 0-for-2, with Arizona.
