Ice Mice To Hold Open Tryouts September 13th

ALBANY, NY - The Albany River Rats, primary affiliate of the National Hockey League's Carolina Hurricanes, invite all dancers, cheerleaders, skaters and other enthusiastic performers to the second scheduled open tryouts for the 2008-09 Ice Mice squad on Saturday, September 13, 2008.

The Ice Mice auditions will again be held at ABC Sports & Fitness, located at 3 Johnson Road in Latham, NY. Registration will begin promptly at 11:30 am, with the tryouts running from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm. All applicants must be at least 18-years of age (bring valid ID) and should wear fitted clothing during the tryouts. There is a $20 non-refundable registration fee for those wishing to participate.

The tryout and selection process will be managed by The Academy of Cheer and Dance, a local company that addresses the needs of today's professional cheer/dance team. As team managers, the Academy provides everything from recruiting, choreography, sponsors and promotional appearances. They also provide dance classes for girls and boys from ages 5 to adult. The Academy of Cheer and Dance is owned by Jeffrey & Patricia Scott and Rebecca Rosen.

The Ice Mice provide fan-interaction, lead on-ice contests and in-crowd promotions at all Albany River Rats home games. 2008-09 Albany River Rats season ticket packages and individual game tickets are on sale now for the River Rats 16th season of operations in the American Hockey League. The primary affiliate of the National Hockey League's Carolina Hurricanes open the season at home on Saturday, October 11th against the Bridgeport Sound Tigers at 7:00 pm at the Times Union Center.
