BRIDGEVIEW, Ill. (August 26, 2008) - Chicago Fire soccer announced today that sports industry veteran Dave Greeley has been appointed President. Greeley will oversee the day-to-day business operations and will be the top Fire executive leading the strategic planning and overall management of the franchise and stadium. He will manage Fire staff, team affairs, marketing, sales and sponsorships, stadium operations, and work with Major League Soccer on related league business matters. He will also work closely with Fire soccer operations, led by technical director Frank Klopas and head coach Denis Hamlett. Greeley will report to Andell Sports Group Managing Director Javier Leon, who oversees the franchise for Fire owner Andrew Hauptman.

"Dave has a wealth of sports industry knowledge and experience. We are fortunate to have the opportunity to bring such a talented executive to the Chicago Fire," said Leon. "As the Fire celebrates its 10th anniversary of Chicago soccer, I am confident he will lead the franchise into a new exciting chapter filled with success on- and off-the-field."

"I am excited to be joining the Chicago Fire as they are clearly a dominant franchise in Major League Soccer," said Greeley. "I am looking forward to working with everyone in the entire Fire organization, as well as ownership, to elevate the Fire to become even more successful."

Greeley has 20 years of experience in the sports industry, including the last eight years as a senior sports executive in Chicago. He has held various marketing and operational posts with top agencies and professional sports franchises, including executive positions with the National Football League and National Basketball Association.

Most recently, Greeley was Principal at DCG Partners LLC, a sports consulting practice he founded. Prior to this, Greeley ran Kemper Sports Marketing and Communications as Executive Vice President/General Manager of the sports marketing, events, and public relations agency. Greeley also spent six seasons with the NFL's Chicago Bears, where he was Chief Marketing Officer and Senior Director of Sales & Marketing. He was the lead senior manager of business operations for the Chicago franchise, overseeing brand management, sponsorship sales, ticket and suite sales, client services, marketing-communications, advertising, merchandising, special events, community relations, and marketing development of the renovated Soldier Field.

Greeley also worked at Vulcan Sports and Entertainment for more than three years as Vice President Sales at Action Sports Media, a leading college rights and representation business, and began his stint there with the National Basketball Association's Portland Trail Blazers as Director of Corporate Development. Early in his career, he worked with Palace Sports and Entertainment, owner and operator of the NBA's Detroit Pistons, the Palace of Auburn Hills, and two Continental Indoor Soccer League teams, the Detroit Safari and Detroit Neon. Greeley began his sports career at Compuware Sports Corporation, the then operator of the Detroit Jr. Red Wings.
