Bears Lose 7-2 to Dust Devils

(Yakima, WA) - David Cooper walked twice to tie the all-time Yakima Bears record for walks in a season, but the Tri-City Dust Devils hit two homeruns behind a strong start by Parker Frazier to beat the Yakima Bears 7-2.

Cooper's two walks put him at 57 for the season, tying him with Charles Nelson of the 1994 team, and putting him in the Northwest League lead by 19 over Ryan Keedy of Boise and Jason Christian of Vancouver.

The Dust Devils scored first in the second on a solo homerun by Johnny Bowden. After that, Sean Morgan retired nine in a row, ending his night by allowing two earned runs with two hits, two walks, and three strikeouts over five innings.

The Dust Devils added two in the fifth on a two-run single by Thomas Field. Tri-City broke the game open on a three-run homerun in the seventh by Charlie Blackmon.

The Bears scored their runs on a two-out two-run single by Greg Bordes with the bases loaded in the seventh. Ben Dollar pitched two scoreless innings of relief for Yakima.

The Bears host the Boise Hawks in the first of a three-game series Saturday night, with T.J. Hose on the mound for Yakima at 7:05 p.m.
