ROUND ROCK - The Milwaukee Brewers organization confirmed Wednesday that storied closer Eric Gagne will make a start against the Round Rock Express.
Gagne, who is recovering from tendonitis in his right shoulder, will make the final of two scheduled minor league rehabilitation appearances for Triple-A Nashville on Thursday at The Dell Diamond. Gagne will likely start the game and work on a select pitch count.
Gagne, 32, carries a 30-25 record with a 3.43 ERA and 187 saves over 10 Major League seasons. He amassed 152 saves and finished 194 games for the Los Angeles Dodgers between 2002-2004, recording a record 84 consecutive saves during that period.
A series of elbow injuries and trips to the disabled list hampered Gagne over the following years as he moved from the Dodgers to Texas, Boston and finally Milwaukee for the start of the 2008 season.
Now a set-up man in the Brewers' bullpen, Gagne is 1-2 with a 6.88 ERA over 20 outings. He recorded two fly outs and a strikeout Tuesday for Nashville.
He is expected to return to Milwaukee's bullpen after Thursday's appearance.
