Boise Hawks play Boise Summer League All-Stars in pre-season game

Boise ID - The Boise Hawks continue to prepare for a summer of action packed baseball. The Hawks are proud to announce that they will square off against the Boise Summer League All-Stars in pre-season action on Sunday, June 15 at Memorial Stadium. Tickets are $5 and are reserved seating. Proceeds from ticket sales will go to the Hawks Nation Charity to benefit youth sports in the Treasure Valley. Gates will open at 3:45 p.m. and the game will begin at 4:30 p.m.
Hawks fans could have the chance to see some familiar faces on Sunday. When the team breaks camp on Friday in Arizona a number of former Hawks could be heading north to join the team.
The Boise Summer League (BSL) is a wooden bat college summer league that allows college players to use wood bats in training for potential pro careers. The game is scheduled for 7-innings but may only run 5 or 6 innings depending on the amount of pitches and innings the Hawks pitchers will be allowed to work.
"It is a fantastic opportunity for our players to take the field against professional players that they may have played against during their college careers," said Head Coach of the Boise Collegiate Summer All-Star Team Andy Swenson. "It is also great exposure for the Boise Collegiate Summer League as we look to build a wider fan base heading into year 4 of our league."
The Hawks continue to prepare for their 22nd season of Northwest League play in 2008. The club has won 6 NWL Championships, the most recent banner coming in 2004.
