Lincoln 14, Pensacola 8

Lincoln got their first win of the season with a 14-8 triumph over Pensacola. The Saltdogs capitalized on six Pelican errors and broke open a 7-7 tie with an inside the park homerun. With two men on, Jonny Kaplan's line drive to right got past RF Rafael Alvarez and rolled to the track. Kaplan, running hard all the way, circled the bases and just beat the tag at home plate to push the score to 10-7. The Saltdogs bullpen was excellent, allowing just one run on three hits over six innings. Lincoln 1B Dustin Yount hit a two run homer of the traditional variety, his first of the year, and now has 10 RBI on the young season. Kaplan finished 3-for-6 and scored three times. Alvarez launched a homer and drove in three for Pensacola.

Fort Worth rallied for three runs in the home half of the eighth inning to win a back and forth contest with Sioux Falls. Both team's starters lasted just 3 2/3 innings and the Canaries looked to be headed for a victory when they grabbed a 10-8 lead with a two run top of the eighth. But the Cats answered as two walks off Josh Kite set up 3B Nelson Teilon to be the game's hero. Teilon cashed in and hit his first round tripper of the year for an 11-10 lead. Jon Hunton came on for a 1-2-3 ninth to earn his second save. Each team had five players with multi-hit performances.

El Paso 11, Shreveport 3

The Diablos snapped a 3-3 tie when they erupted for six runs in the fifth inning and cruised to an 11-3 win over the Sports. J.D. Reininger hit a two run double as El Paso batted around in the frame and Justin Knoff went six strong innings to earn his first victory. SS Albeniz Machado turned in a strong performance for El Paso with a 4-for-6 night. RF Stantrel Smith had three hits as well. Justin Phillips went 4 1/3 innings allowing eight runs and took the loss for Shreveport.
