The Bloomington PrairieThunder organization and PrairieThunder booster club have joined forces to purchase and donate Wii game systems to the pediatric units at OSF St. Joseph and BroMenn Regional Medical Centers in Bloomington and Normal.

Members of the PrairieThunder front office staff, along with team owner Tim Leighton and head coach Derek Booth and booster club president Jeff Simpson, made the donation at the medical centers on Monday.

The Wii game systems and games were purchased through personal donations by the PrarieThunder players and various fundraising efforts and personal donations by the booster club.

"This is something the players felt very strongly about," said Booth. "It's something we talked about at the beginning of the year that they embraced. They were eager to jump on board to help provide entertainment for kids and give something back to the community for all their support during the season."

Simpson said the booster club members were just as enthusiastic about the project.

"We wanted to do something that would have an impact in the community and what better way than help kids," said Simpson. "We hope to make this type of thing an annual project and make it even bigger next year."
