Kevin Whitted Steps Down as Head Coach of the Wilmington Sea Dawgs

Wilmington, NC - April 22, 2008 - Kevin Whitted has stepped down as head coach and president of basketball operations for the Wilmington Sea Dawgs effective immediately. Former Laney High School all time leading scorer, Dallas Maverick and European player, Whitted decided to part from the Sea Dawgs and focus on Kevin Whitted Basketball Services; a basketball program that focuses on on-court skill development.

Whitted, who was hired during the inaugural season, as the 1st head coach in the Wilmington franchise, recently completed his second season with the Sea Dawgs. He guided the franchise to a Division Championship and final four appearance in 2007 and playoff appearance in 2008.

"This was not an easy decision because I truly love coaching the game, " Whitted said. "But other opportunities have presented themselves and this is a good move for me and my family. I want thank the fans for all their support during my time with the Sea Dawgs."

Prior to coming to Wilmington, Whitted was the head coach for the Atlanta Vision ABA franchise. As head coach of the Vision, Whitted won the Division Championship and led the Vision to an Elite Eight appearance. Although Whitted will no longer be apart of the Wilmington Sea Dawg organization, he will still remain in the Wilmington area offering personalized basketball training and development for youth, college and professional athletes.
