Quad Cities River Bandits News Release
Fans have been waiting all off-season for the River Bandits to make their 2008 debut, and when they arrive at Modern Woodmen Park for the season opener on Thursday night they are sure to notice that quite a bit has changed.
In fact, fans will notice the River Bandits new touch right away as they navigate their way around the ballpark. Modern Woodmen Park has been outfitted with brand new bandit-themed way-finding signage to clearly direct fans towards various areas of interest in the ballpark, including the bathrooms, the concession stands, the Genesis Healthy Kids Zone, and more!
"These new signs are the first of their kind in minor league baseball, the first to completely integrate the team's logo and image with the content of the signs," said team owner Dave Heller. "They are fun, playful, colorful, great looking, and of course very functional. We are proud of our team's new identity and fully committed to providing the community with a great new team and a spectacular entertainment outlet."
The River Bandits took the unique step of integrating their logo scheme throughout the entire stadium signage, something that has never before been done in the Quad Cities. Even the new first aid center, the telephone, and the janitor's closet are part of the new sign package.
"It is important to us to be different and stay ahead of the curve," said Vice President and General Manager Kirk Goodman. "We want to be different and think outside the box. A lot of the things we have begun - and will continue - to introduce to fans have never been done here before, and we're excited to bring new and innovative ideas to baseball in the Quad Cities."
The signage was created by Pendulum Studio, a multidisciplinary architecture firm that provides integrated design and consulting strategies. Pendulum Studio prides itself in an approach that is grounded in context, integrating strategy into design by taking a business' core attributes and bringing that out in their work.
"We'd love to take all the credit for the design, but the new Modern Woodmen Park graphics are the product of an intense collaborative effort between Pendulum Studio, the team ownership and front office staff," said Pendulum Studio's Jonathan O'Neil Cole. "More than anything we were inspired by the team's passion for delivering a unique and refreshing experience for River Bandit fans. We believe this shines through in our final design solution, which we feel will set the bar for the design of graphics in new and renovated ballparks of the future."
