"100th Cougar Contest" Announced

GENEVA, IL - The Kane County Cougars have announced the unveiling of a "100th Cougar Contest" in conjunction with a potential milestone for the franchise this season.
To date, 96 former Cougars have reached the Major Leagues since the organization's inception in 1991. Cougars staff are anticipating the possibility of the 100th former Cougar debuting in the Majors sometime this season. Beginning this week, fans can submit a guess at www.kccougars.com and predict who the 100th former Cougar will be. Kane County front office staff members have selected nine players as possible candidates. Fans can choose one of those players, or select an "other" player if they believe the 100th Cougar will be someone not listed on the entry blank.
The contest will continue until the 100th former Cougars player makes his Major League debut. At that time, one winner will be selected at random from all of the correct entries received to win an authentic Cougars home jersey with special #100 embroidery.
"As the only professional baseball team affiliated with Major League Baseball in the Chicago area, we are extremely proud of the Cougars alumni that have graced Elfstrom Stadium over the years," Cougars General Manager Jeff Sedivy said. "Many of our fans can recall seeing former Cougars such as Miguel Cabrera, Dontrelle Willis and Josh Beckett begin their professional careers in Kane County, and this contest gives all of our fans an opportunity to re-connect with our alumni and be part of a significant milestone for our organization."
