New York Liberty Guard Loree Moore Agrees To Three-Year Contract Extension

March 18, 2008 - Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA) New York Liberty

NEW YORK, N.Y. [March 18, 2008] - New York Liberty President & General Manager Carol Blazejowski announced today that guard Loree Moore has agreed to a three-year contract extension. As per team policy, terms of the contracts were not disclosed.

In 2007, Moore recorded career-best averages in points (9.6), steals (2.2) and minutes (34.2). As the Liberty's floor leader, she started in 33 of the 34 games in which she appeared, posted double figures 18 times and led the team in scoring eight times and rebounds three times. Moore finished her third WNBA season ranked fourth in the league for assists by averaging 4.8 per game. She was also the WNBA's No. 2 overall steals leader with a 2.2 average per game. Moore was named to the WNBA All-Defensive Second-Team for the first time in her professional career.

The California native led New York in steals and assists for the second year in a row, joining Liberty legends Teresa Weatherspoon and Becky Hammon as the only players in franchise history to lead the team in those statistical categories in consecutive seasons. Moore holds the fourth spot on the all-time franchise leader board with 304 career assists and the seventh spot with 146 career steals.

Moore was selected in the first round, 10th overall, by the Liberty in the 2005 WNBA Draft. She is currently in Russia playing for Vologda-Chevakata, averaging 5.3 points, 5.3 rebounds and 2.6 assists per game in EuroCup action.

The New York Liberty basketball team, in its twelfth year of operation with the 2008 season, is a part of Madison Square Garden, L.P., which is owned by Cablevision Systems Corporation, and includes the New York Knicks (NBA); the New York Rangers (NHL); the Hartford Wolf Pack (American Hockey League); MSG Entertainment, which includes concerts and events at Radio City Music Hall, Madison Square Garden, The WaMu Theater at Madison Square Garden, the Beacon Theatre, as well as the legendary Chicago Theatre, and which manages wholly-owned live entertainment properties including the Radio City Rockettes and the Radio City Christmas Spectacular; MSG Media, which is comprised of MSG and MSG Plus; Fuse, the music television network; and the Madison Square Garden arena complex, located in the heart of the New York metropolitan area.
