Mississauga St. Michael's Majors News Release
Belleville, ON - The Mississauga St. Michael's Majors traveled to Belleville for their third encounter with the Bulls this season, and were unfortunately defeated 3-1 this evening. The loss came despite the fact Mississauga outshot the home squad by a 41-36 count throughout the night. As a result, their record shifts to 20-20-1-0 on the year.
The Bulls opened up the scoring in the 1st period, as Bryan Cameron and Matt Beleskey connected at 8:26 and then at 17:28 (power-play), respectively, to gain a 2-0 lead. The assists were credited to Beleskey, Cameron, Jan Mursak, and P.K. Subban.
However, the Majors bounced back in the 2nd period when Zac Rinaldo wired a shot into the net at 4:15, off of a pass from Jordan Mayer, to end the frame at 2-1.
Unfortunately, Mississauga failed to find an equalizer in the 3rd period, as Belleville's Shawn Matthias collected the only goal at 19:04 (empty-net) to put the game away. The assists went to Cameron and Nick Pageau.
Chris Carrozzi got the start between the pipes and made 33 saves for Mississauga while Murphy stopped 40 shots for Belleville. The Majors power-play was 0 for 2 while the Bulls finished 1 for 7 on the night. The game's three stars were Murphy (1st), Beleskey (2nd) and Carrozzi (3rd).
