PORT HURON, Mich. - Icehawks right winger Jamie Carroll has been named the National City International Hockey League Forward of the Week and goalie Ron Vogel has been named the Southern Sports Supply IHL Goaltender of the Week for the week ending Oct. 28, the IHL announced Monday.

Carroll recorded his first professional points last weekend, scoring three goals and one assist in three games. On Friday, the rookie notched a goal and an assist in a 5-4 win over the Muskegon Fury. The 24-year old Andover, Conn. native was key in a third period comeback on Saturday versus the Flint Generals, connecting on two, third period goals to force the game into overtime. He also scored a shootout goal Saturday to guarantee a 4-3 win.

This is Carroll's first professional season. He played last year at Providence College.

Vogel posted two straight wins last weekend, including a 5-4 victory over the Muskegon Fury on Friday and a 4-3 shootout win against the Flint Generals on Saturday. The London, Ont. native recorded a total of 50 saves and a save percentage of .877.

During Saturday's victory over the Generals, Vogel made 30 stops, including a diving save to stop Flint's Greg Bullock with just 1:23 left to play and Flint on the Power Play. In the five minutes of overtime, Vogel made four saves to keep Port Huron in the game. He also stopped two Flint shootout attempts to guarantee the Port Huron win.

This is Vogel's eighth season playing professional hockey. He helped the Corpus Christi Rayz to a playoff berth last season.

Port Huron now sits at first place in the league with a 3-2-0 record. They play three games in three days again this weekend, including home contests on Friday and Saturday against the Fort Wayne Komets and Kalamazoo Wings and a road game on Sunday at Bloomington.
