Muskegon Lumberjacks News Release
MUSKEGON, MI.--- Set to embark on a new frontier with the second coming of the International Hockey League for the rapidly-approaching 2007-08 season, the Muskegon Fury will set sail on their IHL maiden voyage with a new partner alongside them with the forging of a brand new, all-new radio agreement. Through this new arrangement, the Fury will have a new radio place to call home for all of their exciting game broadcasts as well as their popular daily update report.
Today, the Muskegon Fury and Synergy Broadcast Group have announced the completion of a three-year contract deal that will make West Michigan's WWKR-FM 94.1 the new radio flagship home for all of the Fury's live play-by-play broadcasts. Moreover, also included in the new contractual agreement, the very popular daily "Fury Daily Update" will be heard on WWKR-FM 94.1 Monday through Friday at 5:20 pm while the ever-popular "Fury Hotline Radio Show" will remain on WEST MICHIGAN'S 94 K-ROCK as the latter program commences for an unprecedented 13th consecutive year and second straight year on WWKR-FM 94.1.
For the next three seasons, 2007-08, 2008-09 and 2009-10, all games played by the Muskegon Fury, pre-season, regular season and playoff games, home and away, in their entirety, will be aired live with all of the play-by-play action on "WEST MICHIGAN'S 94 K-ROCK." As in past years, all game broadcasts will consist of a one-half hour Pre-Game Show as well as the "Fury Star of the Game Show," which will follow all home game originations and the Fury Post Game Show, the latter program after all Fury games.
WWKR-FM 94.1 is soon to gain a much greater, stronger and higher presence, profile and visibility in the Fury total listening market. Prior to the season's initial pre-season game broadcast, the Synergy Broadcast Group will be moving their broadcast transmitter to a new tower which will significantly and substantially increase the signal strength of "94 K-ROCK" in Muskegon and Ottawa counties.
The Fury's official game broadcasts' debut on "94 K-ROCK" will be their pre-season premiere on WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 10TH, when they play host to their nearby archrivals, the Kalamazoo Wings in a 7:30 pm face-off with air-time set for 7:00 pm. It's the initial contest of two total dress rehearsals for the Muskegonites' pre-season slate. The first-ever regular season broadcast on Muskegon's new "94 K-ROCK" is on the docket for SATURDAY, OCTO-BER 20TH, the opening night, coming-out party for the IHL and the Fury as they tangle with the same Kalamazoo club, also at 7:30 pm with broadcast time set for 7:00 pm.
The Fury Team Owner and Club President Tony Lisman lauded the new radio / marketing partnership with Synergy Broadcast Group and WWKR-FM 94.1. "We are thrilled to be associated with such a first class professional organization as Synergy Broadcast Group. With '94 K-Rock' coming into the Muskegon market with an outstanding signal, it is such a natural for us to become a major partner in the overall debut and development of their new, dynamic presence in our market area. With '94 K-Rock's' new and outstanding signal strength and excellent, easy-to-locate position on the FM radio dial, we believe that all of our great Fury fans will derive more fun, enjoyment and satisfac-tion than ever before when they tune in to all of our team's on-ice action. In addition, with '94 K-Rock's' superior signal, our fans in the more northerly climes of Manistee, Ludington and Pentwater areas will have the games coming right into their homes crystal clear as well."
Todd Mohr, President/General Manager for the Synergy Broadcast group echoed the sentiments of his new business partner and associate, reflecting the energy and attitude that "94 K-ROCK" will bring to the Fury's new radio home center stage. "Like '94 K-Rock,' the Fury really rock! We are very excited about our new partnership with the Muske-gon Fury. This has been in the works for some time now and we are pleased to now announce that it has finally come all the way together. We look forward to working side by side with the Fury in achieving yet another winning season!!"
The President of WWKR-FM 94.1 is also excited concerning his station's greater, stronger presence in the Muskegon marketplace. "With the locating of our transmitter to our new tower, we will greatly increase our coverage to the south and in the Muskegon area in particularly. Our listeners in our southern territory will be able to enjoy all of the Fury play-by-play action as well as our great classic rock format and the one and only 'Bob and Tom Show' in the morning."
Also included as a major part of this new Fury radio programming arrangement is the 13th consecutive year of the Fury daily report, "THE FURY HOCKEY UPDATE." The Fury popular program will be on-the-air on WWKR-FM 94.1, "94 K-ROCK" Monday through Friday at 5:20 pm with the return of the report set for MONDAY, OCTOBER 1ST.
