Tri-City Americans News Release
KENNEWICK, WA - Tri-City Americans' general manager Bob Tory announced today that the team has signed 16-year-old forward Mason Wilgosh to a standard Western Hockey League Player's Contract.
The 5'8", 170-pound left wing from Winnipeg, Manitoba appeared in 49 games for the Winnipeg Thrashers AAA Midget program last season, collecting 27 goals and 49 points. Wilgosh also notched 13 goals and 18 points in 12 games, leading the Thrashers to a second place finish in the Manitoba AAA Midget hockey league playoffs.
"Mason is a hard working tenacious checker who has a good offensive skill set and good shot," said Tory. "He loves to get involved physically and throw big hits."
Wilgosh will join former teammates Johnny Lazo, Adam Hughesman and Colan Jackson at the Americans training camp, to be held in late August.
"Mason will compete for a roster spot on our team this year," continued Tory. "However, more importantly, Mason and his family have committed to our program long term. We are pleased that they have chosen the Western Hockey League and the Tri City Americans for his career path and development for his hockey career."
