Tri-City Americans News Release

KENNEWICK, WA - Today, Tri-City Americans general manager Bob Tory is pleased to announce that 17-year-old goaltender Kyle Birch has committed to the team for the upcoming 2007-08 hockey season by signing a Western Hockey League player's contract.

"We are excited as an organization that Kyle has chosen the Americans and the Western Hockey League as his career path to pursue his professional hockey aspirations," said Tory.

Last season, the 5'10", 189 pound Birch played for the Winnipeg Wild of the Manitoba AAA Hockey League, where he earned Manitoba's Goalkeeper of the Year honors. Last year with the Wild, Birch amassed a 14-1-4 record with eight shutouts and a 1.86 goals against average.

Birch was also a member of Team Manitoba's silver-medal group that competed at the 2007 Canada Winter Games in Whitehorse, Yukon. On that team were current Tri-City Americans Tyler Schmidt and Eric Mestery. Birch will now compete with returning goaltender Chet Pickard, along with Kyle Jahraus and Mark Kotylak, for netminding positions on the club for next season.

Tri-City Americans season ticket plans are now available for the 2007-08 season. Season ticket plans can be purchased by using several, convenient monthly payment schedules after a one-time service charge.
