April 18, 2007 - Central Hockey League (CHL)
New Mexico Scorpions News Release
[PRESCOTT VALLEY, Ariz.]-The Scorpions made it three-for-three for road teams in the series with a 4-2 victory Wednesday night. The win trimmed Arizona's series lead down to 2-1.
Special teams vaulted Arizona to a first period lead. Cory Stillman wrapped around a shorthanded goal giving Arizona the early one-goal lead.
The Scorpions came back five minutes later when Jamie Herrington fed the puck to Konrad Reeder. Reeder took advantage of the open ice in front of him and scored his sixth goal of the playoffs.
The Sundogs went back to the man advantage and reclaimed the lead with a power play goal. Chris Bartolone scored a rebound goal, his second of the postseason.
With the Scorpions down a goal after the first period, the opening minutes of the second period were key. New Mexico used traffic in front of the net and re-tied the game. Rob Guinn launched the puck through traffic, off goalie Mike Wall's glove and into the net.
Late in the second period, the Scorpions got the puck to finally bounce their way. Mike Prpich threw the puck at the net from the corner of the zone. Wall did not have the post covered and saw it slip past him. The 3-2 lead was the Scorpions first lead of the playoff series.
The third period saw the Scorpions rise to the occasion and protect the lead. Mike Falk returned to the ice after a three game absence and picked up a third period power play goal to ice the New Mexico victory.
The teams will be back on the ice Thursday night at Tim's Toyota Center. Game Four will drop the puck at 8 p.m. Mountain Time and can be heard on 610 The Sports Animal.
