Revs' Pat Noonan to Undergo Sports Hernia Surgery

Foxborough, Mass. - New England Revolution forward Pat Noonan will undergo sports hernia repair surgery on Wednesday, March 21. The surgery will be performed by Dr. Ulrike Muschaweck and Dr. Angie Erhorn on at Hernienzentrum in Munich, Germany.

Noonan's total recovery time from the operation is expected to be 2-3 weeks. He suffered the injury on his left side while training on Friday, March 9, in Cancun, Mexico.

Noonan, an MLS All-Star and former league scoring champion, is also a member of the U.S. National Team. He was an alternate for the 2006 U.S. World Cup squad and has earned 13 caps and has scored one goal with the National Team.

The surgery will be Noonan's second sports hernia surgery in the last six months, having also undergone the same procedure on his right side on Oct. 9, 2006.

The Revolution kicks off the 2007 season on April 7 against the Chicago Fire in Bridgeview, Ill., before hosting league newcomer Toronto FC at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 14, in the second game of a special soccer event doubleheader that also sees the U.S. Women's National Team take on Mexico's Women's National Team at Gillette Stadium at 5 p.m.
