
Cats ink OF Jordan Foster for 2007

The Fort Worth Cats have signed outfielder Jordan Foster to a contract for the 2007 season, it was announced today.
In 2006, Foster batted .313 with nine homers and 51 runs batted in over 93 games. He finished fourth in the league in runs scored with 70. Foster started the year as the Cats' first baseman but made a mid-season move to center field where he excelled as one of the league's top defensive outfielders.
He had four RBIs in the Cats' 10-game playoff run, which culminated in the 2006 American Association championship.
In 2005, Foster led the team with a .343 batting average (2nd league), 86 RBIs (4th league). He batted .381 over the final two months of the season and was named the CBL's Player of the Week on two occasions - July 10 and Aug. 21.
Foster was a 24th round selection of the Detroit Tigers' organization in 2004 and played in 19 games with the Tigers' Gulf Coast League affiliate that season. An All-American at Lamar University in Beaumont, he set single-season school records as a junior, batting .417 with 96 hits and 29 doubles. He followed with a .363 average as a senior at Lamar.
Foster attended Nolan Catholic High School in Fort Worth and now resides in Arlington.
