Fresno Unified School District And Grizzlies Announce Major Fundraising Partnership

February 16, 2007 - Pacific Coast League (PCL) Fresno Grizzlies

Fresno, CA - The Fresno Unified School District and the Fresno Grizzlies are proud to announce the Score for Schools program, a major fundraising partnership which is aimed at raising money for important school programs within the district.

"This is a great opportunity and learning experience for local students to know what it's like to give back to their community," said Brian Glover, General Partner of the Fresno Baseball Club, LLC. "The Grizzlies are excited to partner with Fresno Unified in bringing local students and baseball together in an effort to assist with providing valuable programs at their schools."

Students from Kindergarten through 12th grade will have the opportunity to sell Fresno Grizzlies' ticket vouchers, each good for one ticket to a baseball game later this summer. The cost of each voucher is $10, and $5 of each voucher sold will go back to each school site. All schools within the district will be able to appropriate their own funds, allowing them to use the money they have raised for programs and supplies they themselves deem most worthy. The goal of the Score for Schools program is to raise $1,000,000 for the 70,000 plus students enrolled within Fresno Unified.

The Score for Schools program will begin on March 1 and run through March 31, with students actively selling Grizzlies ticket vouchers throughout the community for the entire month. Purchased vouchers can be redeemed in advance at the Chukchansi Park Ticket Office. An incentive program has been implemented for all participating students, teachers and schools. Rewards and prizes will be offered at every level of the fundraiser, from individual students to the grade level at each school that raises the most money.

On Friday, May 4, the Grizzlies and Fresno Unified will celebrate Score for Schools by announcing the total contribution back to the schools in a check presentation to be made prior to the Grizzlies home game. Both organizations are hopeful that this will be an annual event that can be counted on to raise much needed funds for the students and schools in the district.
