Six Lions named to CFLPA All-Star team

(Montreal) The Canadian Football League Players Association today announced their 2006 All-Star team presented by Intergold and the BC Lions led the way with seven selections including six players and head coach Wally Buono. The All-Star team is selected by the players and the coaches of the Canadian Football League. In a unique voting system, players of each of the eight member clubs are asked to vote for players they play against at their respective position.

The CFL's Most Outstanding Player, slot back Geroy Simon along with the reigning Most Outstanding Canadian and Most Outstanding Defensive Player Brent Johnson were selected to the squad in addition to defensive lineman Tyrone Williams, linebacker Otis Floyd, defensive back Korey Banks and safety Barron Miles. The Lions' Wally Buono who is also a candidate for tonight's CFL's Coach of the Year award, received his first selection by the CFLPA.

Canadian Football League Players' Association (CFLPA) was established in 1965 and has, since that time, represented the professional football players in the Canadian Football League with the objective of establishing fair and reasonable working conditions for players.
