Vermont Frost Heaves News Release
South Burlington, Vt.-Former University of Vermont star Matt Johnson, the current coach of the powerhouse Burlington High School boys varsity basketball team, will serve as the Northfield Savings Bank 110% Community All-Star at the Vermont Frost Heaves' next game, a 4:05 p.m. matinee on Saturday, Jan. 20, against the Strong Island Sound.
Members of Johnson's Seahorse team will lead a food drive that day, and every fan who brings a nonperishable food item for the Chittenden Emergency Food Shelf will receive a free BUMP roadsign magnet.
In addition, Ian Duvernay, a.k.a. EN, a producer in the stable of Montpelier-based Halogen Records, will premiere original hip-hop music written for the Frost Heaves' mascot, Bump the Moose. The commissioned work includes both a theme and a rap.
The Northfield Savings Bank 110% Community All-Star is in uniform and eligible to play. At halftime Johnson, a native of St. Albans who stands 14th on the UVM all-time scoring list, will shoot a series of shots for charity. He directed the Frost Heaves' Have-a-Ball Kids Camp in Williston last summer.
Tickets for the Frost Heaves' lone Burlington matinee of the season may be purchased through the Flynn Regional Box Office at 159 Main Street in Burlington; at 153 Pearl Street in Essex; by calling 802-86-FLYNN; and by going to flynntix.org.
