DENVER - Two key members of the Colorado Mammoth's 2006 National Lacrosse League championship squad re-signed with the team on Monday when goaltender Gee Nash and forward Ben Prepchuk agreed to one-year contracts.
Nash, 28, set a career-best last season with a 10.29 goals-against average. He appeared in 14 regular season games, posting a 6-3 record, before going 2-0 in three playoff games. He made 41 saves to earn the victory against the Buffalo Bandits in the NLL championship game in May.
Nash, a native of Ajax, Ontario, is a two-time NLL All-Star and was named the league's goaltender of the year in 2004.
Prepchuk returned to the Mammoth in 2006 after sitting out for a year to focus on school. The 6-foot, 195-pound native of Sherwood Park, Alberta, tallied 12 goals and 19 assists in 15 regular season games before scoring a goal and adding six assists in the team's three-game playoff run.
"Both of these players took on very unselfish roles last season and played a huge part in our success," Mammoth general manager Steve Govett said. "We're very excited to welcome them back because we need their veteran leadership and consistent strong play if we want to achieve our goal of another title in 2007."
