Plymouth Whalers News Release

The Plymouth Whalers (12-6-1-1) host the Brampton Batallion (10-10-0-0) Saturday night at 7:30 pm at the Compuware Sports Arena.

Here are five reasons why you should attend the game:

1-Hate them or like them, you can check out Brampton's military-green uniforms.

2-Say hello to former Whaler Taylor Raszka, who is back in the Ontario Hockey League with Brampton after playing in Saginaw and then in the United States Hockey League last season. Raszka comes into the weekend with 9 goals and 3 assists for 12 points in 17 games. In addition, say hello to Northville-native Nick Duff, playing his overage year in Brampton.

3-See if Plymouth right wing Dan Collins gets to 100 career points with the Whalers this weekend. Collins comes into the weekend with 98 points. If he hits 100 points, he'll be the 37th player in Whaler history to have at least 100 career points.

4- Check out Brampton left wing Wojtek Wolski (pronounced VOY-tek VOHL-skee) a first round pick of the Colorado Avalanche who started the season in Colorado. Wolski - who sounds like he might be an Import player, but is actually from Mississauga, ON - is one of the stars of the OHL.

5-See if the Whalers' penalty killing unit continues to do the job, with Tom Sestito, Gino Pisellini and Vaclav Meidl new men on the job for this year for Plymouth to help out established PK'ers John Armstrong, Cory Tanaka, Andrew Fournier, John Vigilante and others. In the new rules of hockey, special teams take added importance and Plymouth's penalty killing unit has ranked near the top of the OHL all season long.

Tickets are available by calling the Compuware Sports Arena box office at (734) 453-8400. Saturday is a Family Value Night - for $44, families get four tickets, four hot dogs, four pepsis and four game lineup cards.
