DENVER - The Colorado Mammoth announced Wednesday it has re-signed defenseman Tom Ethington to a two-year contract. Ethington, who starred at the University of Denver, has been with the Mammoth since the team selected him in the 2002 National Lacrosse League entry draft. He played in a career-high nine games last season, registering nine goals and one assist.

"Tom is such a gifted athlete and his grasp of the indoor game is strengthening," Mammoth general manager Steve Govett said. "He really showed talent and tremendous character last season and we look forward to his further development."

The Mammoth also agreed to two-year contracts with goaltender John McLellan and free-agent forward Matt Leveque.

McLellan, who joined the Mammoth last season following Erik Miller's retirement, served as the team's No. 2 goaltender, behind starter Gee Nash. He made 19 saves in relief of Nash during a loss at Calgary in his only appearance last season.

Leveque, a 5-foot-11, 200-pound native of Surrey, British Columbia, recently captained the Surrey Stickmen to the B.C. Junior A league championship. He tallied 11 goals and six assists in 20 games for the Stickmen this summer.
