Gwizzlies name head coach

Gwinnett, GA. Embry Malone, owner of the ABA Gwinnett Gwizzlies professional basketball team today announced that Brook Steppe has been named Head Coach and General Manager. Steppe is a former NBA 1st Round draft pick and a five-year NBA veteran. He was the 17th player selected in the first round of the 1982 NBA draft and played for Kansas City, Sacramento, Indiana, Detroit and Portland. His 13-year professional career spanned the NBA, and international leagues. The former All American was also the first All-ACC playher in Georgia Tech's basketball history.

Coach Steppe's prior coaching experience includes pro basketball as well as Kennesaw State University (NCAA Div. II). He commented, "There is a tremendous amount of work to be done between now and the training camp. I am grateful for the opportunity to lead the Gwinnett Gwizzlies team as we establish ourselves to be a professional, entertaining and successful organization."

He added, "We look forward to developing a relationship with the ABA and Metropolitan Atlanta area. I believe the Gwinnett Gwizzlies will provide an entertaining style of professional basketball at a bargain cost to our fans. We want to develop a winning tradition, be a credit to our league and to the community."
