Beacons Roster Expands As Four More Sign The Dotted Line

PORT HURON-MI- The Port Huron Beacons announce today that they have signed two players from the 2003-04 season, and two newcomers; Defenseman, David Bell, Left Wing, Josh Tataryn, Goaltender, Scott Gouthro and Center, Jamie Young will all be heading to Port Huron.

Defenseman, David Bell, 27, returns to Port Huron for another season. Bell emerged last season as one of the Beacons top D-men. Bell was tough on defense and was also able to put up some good numbers in the process. He totaled 6 goals, 24 assists for 30 points in 66 games played during the regular season and finished with 3 points in 9 playoff games.

Left Wing, Josh Tataryn, 22, will be returning to Port Huron for his second season. Tataryn completed his third season in the UHL, his first with the Beacons. This past season was one of Josh's most productive seasons to date tallying 12 goals for 25 points in 60 games played; he played in two playoff games.

Goaltender Scott Gouthro, 23, spent last season with the Waterloo Men's Hockey club and earned the spot as the teams Most Valuable Player. In the 2002-03 season Gouthro played in the Quebec Semi-Professional Hockey League. During the 2003-04 season the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) ran a feature on Scott called "Hero."

Center Jamie Young, 23, finished his senior year at Brock University as the teams M.V.P. He finished with a career high in points (31) including 11 goals and 20 assists in 24 games played. In the four years at Brock University, Young totaled 32 goals, 53 assists for 85 points in 86 games.

With the addition of these four players, the Beacons roster expands to six. Previously the Beacons had signed Center Aaron Brand and Forward Joe Sewell.
