
David Bush named opening day starter

Syracuse, NY- The Syracuse SkyChiefs announced today that Right Handed Pitcher David Bush will be the Opening Day Starter when the SkyChiefs host the Rochester Red Wings on Thursday.
Bush, 24, was the Blue Jays second round draft pick in the 2002 Draft out of Wake Forest University.
He started last season with Single-A Dunedin where he was 7-3 with a 2.81 ERA, in 14 starts before being promoted to Double-A New Haven were he was 7-3 with a 2.78 Era in 14 starts.
During his first year as a Professional in 2002 Bush appeared in 18 games with Single-A Auburn in the New York Penn League where he compiled a 1-1 record, a 2.82 ERA and 10 saves as a reliever. Bush then was promoted to Single-A Dunedin in the Florida State League where he appeared in seven games with no record and a 2.78 ERA.
This spring Bush appeared in three games for the SkyChiefs allowing 11 hits and five runs in 15 innings of work. He struck out 19 batters and allowed just one walk. Bush also appeared in four games for the parent Toronto Blue Jays totaling nine innings with a 6.00 ERA. Bush holds the Wake Forest record for career appearances (142) and saves (38).
