Round Rock Express News Release
ROUND ROCK, Texas â Saturday night is why they call it spring training.
The Triple-A New Orleans Zephyrs scored five times in the eighth inning to cruise to a 7-1 win over the Double-A Round Rock Express in front of 10,960 at The Dell Diamond.
The game was in addition to a most unique visit by Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie, in town to root on the Express, catch some baseball and worry about breaking a nail â among other things.
Back on the field, though, a few Express alums did in their former team. Chris Burke, the 2003 Express Player of the Year, went 3 for 4 and drove in a run. Mike Hill also went 2 for 4 with two RBI.
On the plus side for Round Rock, Jon Topolski went 2 for 3 and the Express gave a preview of things to come by stealing four bases, two by Charlton Jimerson.
Fortunately for the Express, though, the loss doesn't count in the standings. There will be one final exhibition Sunday at 5:05 p.m., in New Orleans against the Zephyrs. Houston Astros starter and former Express star Tim Redding will take the hill for Round Rock.
