
Spirit Roster Adds New Talent

West Springfield, February 12, 2004 â Springfield Spirit President and Owner Stephen Fox is pleased to announce today that the Springfield Spirit has come to terms with Rasheeda Clark as well as Leshaneal "Tootie" Shaw.
When asked about the two new additions to the Spirit roster President and Owner Stephen Fox stated, "We are very pleased to be able to bring these types of players to Springfield. Both Rasheeda and Tootie will bring an immediate impact to our team and will bring that little extra spark that we have been looking for. Add these 2 players with our latest addition Isabel Stubbs these new players will help us make the run I have been waiting for."
Rasheeda attended Pepperdine University, where during her 3-year tenure she led the Waves to back-to-back West-Coast Conference Championships and three 20+-win seasons. While at Pepperdine she averaged 17.5 ppg, 5.6apg and 6rpg, which were good enough to earn her Player-of-the-Year Awards in 2000. She was a member of the 12-person 1999 U.S. World University Games Team, which claimed a silver medal in Palma de Mallorca, Spain. Drafted by Portland Fire in the third round (36 overall) of the 2001 WNBA Draft. She was assigned to Charlotte Sting as a free agent in 2002 and was assigned to the Connecticut Sun as a free agent in April 2003.
Tootie Shaw is a 6'1" forward form Louisville, Kentucky and graduated from Wichita State University in 1997 with a degree in Business Administration. She scored 1,159 points and grabbed 754 rebounds in her 4-year career at WSU. She currently ranks seventh in WSU history in 3 pointers made and eighth in WSU rebounding. Her tenacity as labeled her as one of the toughest athletes that has played the game at WSU and has a knack for finding the ball. Played professionally in the NWBL in 2002 for the Kansas City Legacy and was the second round draft pick (25th overall) of the WNBA Phoenix Mercury in 2002 draft.

Tickets for the 2004 season may also be purchased on line at www.ticketmaster.com tickets costs at CCSU are $20, $15, and $10 for adults and $12 and $10 for juniors under 18. At Cathedral H/S the tickets are $15 and $12 for adults and $10 for Junior under 18.
