Zymkowitz Re-Signs

Chicago Bandits News Release

ROSEMONT, Ill. - Chicago Bandits GM, Aaron M. Moore, announced the re-signing of second baseman, Danielle Zymkowitz, for the 2012 season.

"Re-signing Z was an offseason priority for the team," said Moore. "Danielle is a competitor and immediately stepped in and became a contributor. She can handle the bat very well and provides some sneaky power, which is great because of the many places in the order she can hit. She is a plus defender and really helps make the middle of the field solid."

Signing with the Bandits out of open tryouts in May 2011, Zymkowitz quickly made an impact for the Bandits, using her defense to become the regular second baseman, as well as providing an offensive spark.

In 104 at bats during 2011, she hit .298 with an on base percentage of .330, including three home runs and four stolen bases. She was named an at large selection to the All-NPF Team.

"I'm so grateful and excited for the opportunity to be a part of the Bandits family again in 2012," said Zymkowitz. "To be able to continue doing something I love with the greatest athletes is really an honor."

Originally from West Hills, Calif., she spent her collegiate career at the University of Illinois in Champaign, Ill. A three-time Gold Glove award winner (2008-2010), she was named Illinois' Most Valuable Player in 2009, made the 2010 All-Big Ten Team and led the 2011 team with 52 runs scored. She is currently serving as the volunteer assistant coach with the Illini softball team.
