Florida Seals News Release
KISSIMMEE, Fla.]- Records fell in Kissimmee Saturday night as the Seals beat their rivals from Jacksonville 7-3. For the first time in Florida Seals history two players scored a hat trick in the same game.
Rob Sich was the first hat trick of the night scoring the first Seals goal 8:06 into the game. Sich's goal was the Seals eighth shorthanded goal of the season. He finished the hat trick with two second period goals giving him his first career three goal game.
Steve Zoryk's big night propelled him to the top spot in the league for goals scored. Zoryk scored his first two goals in the first period. His second goal of the night was ripped from the top of the circle past starting goalie Mykola Voroshnon. That would be the last shot the Barracudas (11-20-1) goalie saw as he was pulled at the start of the second period in favor or Robb Stauber.
Once again Andrew Katzberg had a multiple point night. Halfway through the third period he scored his career high eighth goal this season. The Seals enforcer from Yorkton, Sask. also was credited with an assist earlier in the game on a Sich goal.
In addition to the record number of hat tricks, the Seals also set a new franchise mark for consecutive periods with at least one goal. Florida (16-11-5) has now scored in nine straight frames. Even more impressive, during the streak the Seals have scored at least two goals in each of the last nine periods. The win was also the third straight for the Seals.
Florida returns to home ice for a two game set against Pee Dee Thursday and Friday. Thursday is a "Thirsty Thursday" featuring $1 beer during the game. Friday will be the annual "NASCAR Night." The Silver Spurs Arena will have race cars and exotic cars placed throughout the building. In addition, the Seals will wear special race style jerseys to be auctioned off after the game.
