The NAHL Eagles invite youngsters in attendance to skate with members of the team after many of their home games at Pullar Stadium.
Besides being out with my wife, Mary, two sisters-in-law and two brothers-in-law, the group I was with at Saturday's game against Jamestown included family friend Kevin Caruso and his two young sons, seven-year old Nick and five-year old Sammy, along with Kevin's parents.
Well, both Nick and Sammy took to the ice with the Eagle players after the game and it was a delightful sight to behold.
Nick, a tall, lanky, serious youngster, displayed an upright, straight skating style. Meanwhile, Sammy the bull charged his way up and down the ice in a modern-day, mini-mite rendition of legendary Toronto Maple Leafs forward Eddie (Clear The Track) Shack.
Nick and Sammy got to tour the Eagle dressing room afterwards and left Pullar Stadium as two very-happy young fellows.
The Eagles are big on public relations and interacting with their fans and the post-game skate with the players that they put on is just one example of their fan-friendly ways.
