
Ycaza Scores Brace to Give RGV Three Points

EDINBURG, Texas - Rio Grande Valley F.C (5-6-0) was victorious against San Diego Loyal (6-3-2) at H-E-B Park on Saturday night behind a brace by midfielder Emilio Ycaza, 2-1. This marked the second consecutive win for the Toros as they spring back into the winning column.
San Diego Loyal conceded a penalty at the 4th minute as Alejandro Guido committed a sliding tackle to prevent the attack. Frank Lopez took the penalty try but was unsuccessful as Koke Vegas guessed correctly and made the save.
Colin Miller was forced to make a save at the line at the 25th minute as a dangerous cross found the head of Kyle Vassell and went directly to the center of goal, this kept the match even at, 0-0. Miller was touched up on the play and was forced to sub off due to a suspected injury. Tyler Deric entered the match.
San Diego drew a penalty at the 35th minute as Erik Pimentel challenged the attack from Andrew Carleton. On the try Kyle Vassell placed San Diego ahead, 0-1 at the 36th minute.
Tyler Deric was tested at the 64th minute as San Diego broke away in a one-on-one play, Deric closed in and made the block at the top of the box to keep the match at, 0-1.
RGV F.C equalized at the 75th minute as Emilio Ycaza sent a laser shot to the top left of the goal from outside the box. The goal marked his second of the 2022 campaign, 1-1.
At the 81st minute Rio Grande stole the lead on a tight play as the ball took a deflected bounce right in front of the line and snuck in to make it 2-1, Koke Vargas was unable to keep the ball from crossing the line on the play. Emilio Ycaza was credited with the goal as he sent the shot at goal from the right side of the 6-yard box, earning him the brace on the night.
Ycaza has now scored three goals in two matches, earning the right as a new offensive weapon for RGV F.C.
