The Yard Dawgz started quickly as QB Craig Strickland found WR/LB Matt Robillard on a screen pass that turned into a 41-yard TD on the first play from scrimmage. Oklahoma City then stopped the Law and forced a field goal attempt that turned into a safety when the snap went thru the back of the end zone for a 9-0 Yard Dawgz advantage. On the ensuing kickoff OS Kris Peters returned the ball 54-yards for a TD and a 16-0 lead.
Facing a must convert the Law marched 41-yards for a TD that was capped off by a five-yard TD pass from QB Rocky Perez to OS Michael Wakefield to cut the margin to 16-7. Oklahoma City countered back when Strickland snuck around the right side from two yards out to increase the lead to 23-7.
Laredo answered early in the second quarter with a two-yard run by Perez to get to within 23-13. Okalahoma City extended their lead again when Strickland found a wide open WR/DB Timon Marshall for a 39-yard strike and a 30-13 lead.
Laredo came back when Perez took a terrific hit in the end zone, but got the pass away to WR/LB B'Jay Jones who raced 46-yards down the left side for a TD. The play got the Law within 30-19. The Law then recovered an onside kick and had a chance to get closer, but the Yard Dawgz ended the half with an interception by FB/LB Chris Toney at the goal line.
In the third quarter the Law fumbled the ball on the opening possession, but WR/LB Melvin Phillips recovered a Yard Dawgz fumble to give Laredo another chance. This time the Law capitalized as Perez connected with Phillips from 15-yards to get Laredo within 30-26. Immediately the Yard Dawgz responded with a five play drive that moved 41 yards and was capped off by a 10-yard pass from Strickland to WR/DB Damon Hodge in the right corner of the end zone to increase the Oklahoma City lead to 37-26.
At the start of the fourth quarter Perez was intercepted by Peters and the Yard Dawgz went deep for the end zone on the ensuing play as Strickland found a wide open Marshall for a 38-yard TD and a 44-26 Oklahoma City lead. Once again the Law mustered a drive to stay in the game as Perez connected with WR/DB Ty Johnson for a 15-yard TD to pull Laredo within 44-33. The Law then tried an onside kick, but the Yard Dawgz recovered and Strickland quickly connected with Peters for a 14-yard TD and a 51-33 advantage.
Perez and the Law came right back with a 44-yard TD pass to Jones, but the Yard Dawgz margin was to big to overcome. FINAL SCORE Oklahoma City 58, Laredo 39.
