Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Yankees News Release
The Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Yankees and WNEP 16 have reached an agreement to televise five Yankees games during the 2008 season, including two road games.
WNEP's broadcast schedule begins on opening night, April 3 vs. the Lehigh Valley IronPigs at 7:00 p.m. The schedule continues on the road on May 31 at 7:00 p.m. and June 1 at 1:30 p.m. at Frontier Field in Rochester, New York with back-to-back games at the Rochester Red Wings. Coverage returns to PNC Field with a 7:00 p.m. July 5 broadcast vs. the Syracuse Chiefs. The broadcast schedule wraps up on August 5 with a 7:00 p.m. broadcast against the rival Pawtucket Red Sox.
Once again, WNEP 16 will kick off its coverage with a half-hour special to air Wednesday, April 2 at 7:30 p.m. on the eve of opening night with interviews and features on the 2008 Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Yankees players and field staff.
"Teaming up again with WNEP was an easy decision," said Yankees Executive VP/COO Jeremy Ruby. "WNEP's coverage of the Yankees was tremendous in 2007 and we're excited to be working with them again in 2008. From a fans standpoint, the broadcast schedule is outstanding with home games against Lehigh Valley, Syracuse and Pawtucket and a pair of road games at Rochester."
The Yankees are currently selling full season, half season and partial season ticket plans as well as Champions Plans for the 2008 season. Please call 570-969-2255 for more information.
