X's Announce 2012 Coaching Staff & Spring Training Schedule

Sioux City, IA - The Sioux City Explorers announced today that they have finalized their coaching staff for the 2012 season and James Frisbie has been named to field manager, Stan Cliburn's coaching staff and will serve as the X's pitching coach for the X's 20th Season in Siouxland. Alex Llanos whom served as the X's hitting coach the past two seasons has decided to step down to focus on his business career and Stan Cliburn will assume the role as hitting coach in 2012.

"I am pleased to have James join our coaching staff as my pitching coach this season, as I have known James for a long time, as he played for me back in the late 90's. He has a tremendous amount of passion for the game and will bring a wealth of coaching experience to our pitching staff, stated field manager, Stan Cliburn."

Frisbie, will begin his first year as pitching coach for the Sioux City Explorers in 2012. A native of Kent, Washington, James played his college baseball at Abilene Christian University for former major leaguer Bill Gilbreth from 1992-1995.

After his college career, James began his professional pitching career in 1998 as a member of the Alexandria Aces in the Texas Louisiana League for current X's field manager, Stan Cliburn. Frisbie spent the next three seasons in the Texas Louisiana League (Greenville, MS (1999), Alexandria, LA (2000 -2001).

In 2002, James began his coaching career when he served as the pitching coach for the Rio Grande Valley White Wings of the Independent Central Baseball League. The following season, James served as the field manager of the White Wings before moving onto the Jackson Senators (Central Baseball League) as pitching coach for the 2004 campaign. In 2005, James joined the Chillicothe Paints (Independent Frontier League) coaching staff where he served as the team's pitching coach. After one season with the Paints, Frisbie moved onto the Coastal Bend Aviators of the American Association of Professional Baseball and served as the team's pitching coach for the 2006 season.

In 2007, James went back to managing where he served as the field manager of the Bradenton Juice of the South Coast League in Bradenton, FL. For his efforts with the Juice, James finished second behind Wally Backman (current Triple-A manager for the New York Mets affiliate in Buffalo, NY and father of current X's 3rd baseman, Wally Backman Jr.) for the manager of the year honors in the South Coast League during the 2007 campaign. Frisbie spent the next three seasons in Forth Worth as the pitching coach for the Fort Worth Cats. In 2008, Frisbie's staff led the league in pitching with a 3.49 ERA and finished second in ERA in 2009. In 2011, James served as pitching coach for former major leaguer Mike Marshall's in Chico of the North American League.
